Workers really digging bond improvement job at Sylvania

Photos and Story by

This isn’t your old Health Technology Building anymore. The E6 (energy-efficiency and reduced water usage) projects underway at Portland Community College's Sylvania Campus on the south side of the facility are rapidly changing how the structure looks – for the better. Projects include the installation of the retaining wall around the new dehumidification units at the building. General contractor is Howard S. Wright.

Work on Sylvania's G Street is taking place right next to the other energy efficient projects. The project is scheduled to be finished by the end of August. The completion of G Street will improve access to and from the campus for emergency vehicles, as well as evacuation from campus in emergency situations. The next energy-saving project scheduled this month is the modification of the Heating Hot Water loop, which will make the current system more efficient and reduce energy costs to the college.
