Presentation video highlights green building features at PCC’s Newberg Facility

Photos and Story by

When voters supported the bond measure in 2008, PCC’s sustainability commitment for new buildings was to meet LEED Silver standards. With PCC’s future education center in Newberg, Oregon, the Bond Program is on track to exceed the College’s Climate Action Plan commitment adopted by the PCC Board. For this PCC facility, slated to be completed this August, the College’s goal is to achieve net-zero on-site building energy use.

To meet that commitment, the facility incorporates a full array of sustainable building practices, including natural ventilation, radiant heating and cooling systems, daylighting, ceiling fans, efficient lighting and lighting controls, and photovoltaic panels, to name a few.

This summer, the architecture and engineering team of Hennebery Eddy Architects and Interface Engineering conducted a presentation and training with PCC’s Facilities and Management Services staff reviewing the installation, operation and maintenance of these green building features.
