Here is a look at some of the news stories about PCC from around the local area and the nation in August. In total, PCC events and people appeared 28 times in the local community or national online media, newspapers or TV/radio.
Aug. 3, The Beaverton Valley Times and The Portland Observer’s El Observador section showcased Luis Moreno becoming the first graduate of PCC’s new HEP program.
Aug. 9, PCC-Cascade’s National Night Out event was highlighted by Oregon Live.
Aug. 11, PCC works with Terra Nova High School to encourage students to grow crops and learn about agriculture, reports The Oregonian.
Aug. 11, Karl Wilson’s opportunity in the Health Informatics program via a STEM scholarship made news in the U.S. Department of Labor’s weekly e-mail newsletter.
Aug. 18, PCC’s involvement with SEI was spotlighted in The Portland Tribune.
Aug. 19, a PCC student, who started in the Transitions program, is profiled in The Oregonian article about the increase in transfer students statewide.
Aug. 24, SSI volunteer Aileen Clark and the SSI program were featured in the King City Regal Courier.
Aug. 26, The Chronicle of Higher Education ranked PCC 19th in the country in community college enrollment with 30,161 full- and part-time students. No. 1 was Miami Dade College with 59,120 students.
Aug. 26, The Oregonian profiled a Somali youth and PCC student who organized a fund-raiser for his drought-stricken home county.
