PCC District President Preston Pulliams meets with members of the Working Waterfront Coalition.

Pulliams expressed his thanks to the Working Waterfront Coalition and the Industry and Art Exhibit, which provided funds to establish the Working Waterfront Coalition Scholarship at the Foundation.

“This important scholarship will remove financial barriers for those students seeking education and career training for careers in welding and other skilled trades,” Pulliams said.  “Skilled welders are a key labor component for manufacturing companies and, locally, there is a shortage of well-trained workers in this vital trade.”

He also said the PCC Swan Island Training Center was crucial in providing career training opportunities for students, particularly on Swan Island and Portland’s east side.
