Create a ‘worm villa’ at PCC Sylvania, May 25-June 3

Photos and Story by

Get your hands a little dirty at the Sylvania Campus Learning Garden from May 25 to June 3.

If you’re interested in learning – and participating – in natural building techniques, consider volunteering in this year’s Village Building Convergence project to create a 10-foot-by-20-foot home for Sylvania’s worm bins. Along with an extensive water catchment system, volunteers will learn different building techniques, including straw bale, cob, and cord wood construction, with guidance from professional natural builders as part of on-site, free-of-charge workshops open to the public and PCC faculty, staff and students.

Sylvania's worms will soon get a new home.

PCC Sylvania’s Learning Garden is an interdisciplinary “living laboratory” to demonstrate principles of sustainability. From growing organic produce and composting leftovers in the worm bins to a native rain garden and natural dye plot, the Learning Garden is a dynamic place for students, staff, and the public to cultivate their minds, get in touch with nature, or simply relax.

For more details and to volunteer, contact Kim Smith at (971) 722-4097, or Josh Liebschutz at (971) 722-8342.

You can not really bomece a nurse online.A real nursing program involves going to a real school. doing skills labs and working in clinical settings to gain practical experience.

OK – we are aware that the comment above this one is SPAM. However, the fact that it was posted to this story made me laugh… So, I think I’ll leave it for now.
