“As the largest educational and job training institution in the State of Oregon, Portland Community College depends on strong support from our federal representatives,” said PCC College President Preston Pulliams. “Congresswoman Bonamici’s focus on strengthening collaborations between employers and workforce training institutions, commitment to preserving access to student financial aid, and advocacy on behalf of public educational institutions benefit the mission of PCC and community colleges around the country.”

The Council for Resource Development represents over 1750 members at 700 institutions around the United States and Canada, including Portland Community College. The Congressional Award has been given since 1993 to recognize members of the U.S. House and Senate who have made significant contributions to community college education.

“As a community college graduate, I understand the importance of accessible, career-focused education,” added Bonamici. “PCC and all of Oregon’s community colleges play a critical role in rebuilding our economy by preparing workers for local jobs and helping companies access a skilled workforce. I’m honored to accept this award and will continue my efforts to build new opportunities for all those seeking education and training.”
