Youth Action Grants awarded to young people who create community projects

Photos and Story by

Grants for community projects designed and carried out by young people are available as part of the Youth Action Grants program sponsored by The City of Portland and the Associated Students of Portland Community College.

A total of $10,000 is available for projects designed by people 21 years old and younger. Grants of up to $1,000 are available for young people who create projects based on a bill of rights for youth that was passed by the Portland City Council and the Multnomah County Board.

The deadline for grant application submissions is Thursday, Feb. 21. The Associated Students of Portland Community College will host a “how to” workshop on Thursday, Feb. 7, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sylvania Campus, in College Center (CC) 204B. The focus will be to offer support to applicants on how to write grants, create budgets and design action plans.

Hi, Rosa — I tried responding to your e-mail directly, but the note bounced back from address I had for you….so I thought I’d reply this way – hope you receive this!

1) Please contact the ASPCC, by phone or e-mail, as indicated in the article for more details.
2) http://www.pcc.edu/resources/aspcc/sylvania/YouthActionGrant.html (this is the Web page with more details, too).

I hope this helps! Good luck to you!

Best regards,
Kate Chester
