Kwok’s book, “Girl in Translation,” is a semi-autobiographical novel that discusses first hand perspective on issues like immigration, discrimination, poverty, labor issues, family dynamics and cultural conflicts that came up for her as a young Chinese-American girl. The book is powerful but accessible and provides a window into a world that most of us do not encounter but do experience indirectly through the challenges, frustrations, and triumphs that play out in the daily lives of PCC’s diverse population.
