It’s fall term and that means there is a lot going on. Here’s a recap of what’s going on this week and beyond.

Sylvania Campus hosts seasonal job fair

Looking for a seasonal or part-time job? Check out this fair showcasing roughly 35 employers in the CC Building’s Upper Mall, Sylvania Campus. The fair, free and open to all PCC students, will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 9. Fall plant sale at Rock Creek Campus

Fall is always a great time to plant trees and shrubs. So, you and your friends are invited to the annual PCC Landscape Club’s Fall Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct 10 and Friday, Oct 11, in the Greenhouse, Rock Creek. There will be a wide selection of native plants, fall or winter blooming perennials, blueberries, columnar apples and other fruit trees will be available. And it’s for a great cause. During the spring sale, the club raised more than $5,000 for PCC Foundation scholarships and club funds. Come on down later this week and help out the students!

Letterpress and collage exhibit at Cascade

Inge Bruggeman’s new letterpress and collage exhibit “Where do I put it if not on paper?” is now on show at the Cascade Art Gallery through Nov. 7. Bruggeman explores, “the paper substrate as object itself, as a place where language resides, or has resided, as it currently is departing from this territory.” Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and is located in Room 102, Terrell Hall, Cascade Campus. Come on over and check it out!

Theater group puts on ‘Bully Goat’ play

Theatre@RockCreek is proud to announce its third annual family theater production titled “The Bully Goat.” This is a tale of money, love family and procrastination. “The Bully Goat” is the story of Belle’s family prior to the Beast. With Papa away at sea, Belle’s sisters must navigate the treacherous world of running the house and managing the bills. But, while trying to get a grasp on the tasks of house and hearth, a suitor has arrived determine to win one of the sisters as his bride.  The production has been a classroom collaboration of Rock Creek’s TA 180 class. The students, having been presented with a skeleton plot, created and rehearsed characters, shaping the plot through improv games and writing exercises. The play is suitable for people of all ages. Admission to the production is a canned or non-perishable food item to be donated to the PCC Food Bank. The one-hour shows will be at 11 a.m., Saturdays, Nov. 2 & 9 in Room 114, Building 3, Rock Creek.

Instructor’s science fiction book takes place at Wal Mart-like store

Jason Rizos, a literature of science fiction and writing instructor, has published his first novel, “Supercenter.” Released last spring, the book has recently been nominated for the Locus Award. “Supercenter” tells the story of a future dystopia, where children are raised in Wal-Mart-like retail stores and trained as soldiers on advanced video game systems. The book is currently available in print at Amazon.com or you can request an ebook copy by visiting the author’s website.
