Start Guide for Online Learners now available

Photos and Story by

Starting for spring 2015, any student wanting to take their first online class at PCC must complete the Start Guide for Online Learners before they can register for that online class. The guide contains several modules that will help students determine if online learning is right for them and will also provide information and resources to help students succeed in online classes.

What is the deadline?
If you plan on taking your first online class at PCC this spring, you can complete the start guide at any time. Staff strongly encourage you to complete it quickly so you have ample time to complete the guide and plan for spring term classes.

How do I start?
You can access the start guide any time you like. You can either read more about it first, or you can log in to MyPCC to access the start guide. Here’s how:

  • Log in to MyPCC.
  • Click on the My Courses tab.
  • Locate the “Ready to Take Online Classes?” channel and click the link for the “Start Guide for Online Learners.”

How do I know if this affects me?
Once you have completed the start guide, or if you have taken online classes at PCC before, you’ll see a backpack with a green check mark in the “Ready to Take Online Classes?” channel on the My Courses tab.

What if students have questions?
You can find out more on the Distance Education page, or you can contact the Student Help Desk at (971) 722-8222, or shd@pcc.edu.
