The Professional Music Program at Portland Community College’s Cascade Campus is partnering with one of the world’s foremost music technology firms for a day of hands-on workshops and presentations.

Ableton Inc. will visit Cascade on Sept. 23 to showcase its “Live” music creation and performance software, as well as “Push,” a hardware instrument designed for playing and composing with “Live.” Students are invited to join Ableton representatives and certified trainers Thomas Faulds, Jeremy Highouse, and Isaac Cotec for an afternoon of break-out sessions exploring composition, sound design, production techniques and performance. The day’s activities will culminate in a free evening presentation open to the public, featuring performances, tips and tricks and unique approaches for music-making.

The evening performance is set for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Moriarty Arts & Humanities Building at Cascade. Daytime workshops – for students and faculty only – include Ableton for Education with Isaac Cotec from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Introduction to Live 9 and Push 101 with Thomas Faulds from 2 to 5 p.m.

For more information about the student workshops, contact Professional Music instructor Shawn Trail at 971-722-5886 or shawn.trail@pcc.edu. More information about Ableton Inc. can be found at www.ableton.com.
