Manufacturing Day is a national celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers.

Two classes of high school students learned about PCC programs and job opportunities in advanced manufacturing, machining and engineering technology. Using experiential learning opportunities the groups were introduced to the MakerLab resources, spatial-visualization skills, supply chain concepts, and computer driven manufacturing activities.

The camp was funded by the Oregon Talent Council for the new Realizing Advanced Manufacturing Potential in Portland (RAMP PDX) Project. RAMP PDX will train, place, advance and retain participants in a variety of advanced manufacturing jobs. The project is increasing the skilled worker pipeline for the many advanced manufacturing companies in the region and paves the way for workers to attain certificates and degrees.
