Open forums on facilities planning draws crowds at Cascade, Rock Creek campuses

On Wednesday, May 24, round two of open forums about Portland Community College’s facilities planning process were main events at two college locations.
Campus communities at Rock Creek and Cascade had the chance to learn about Phase I facilities planning work that has been completed to date and ask questions of representatives from a college steering committee and the project management task force, which is made up of staff from the Bond Program, Facilities Management Services, Academic Affairs and College Advancement. In addition, attendees has the chance to provide input for Phase II of facilities master planning.
With guidance from SRG Partnership (architect firm), the committee is guiding the project and the eight work groups focused on specific topics.
Speaking of Phase II. This second phase will focus on comprehensive college development and implementation of the college’s Strategic Plan. Data collected in the first phase will be evaluated against growth capacity, to inform future bond measures as well as identify new community partners and opportunities for progress. Phase I centers on analysis of all existing facilities, which should be completed by early 2018.
