Open house set Monday at Rock Creek

Portland Community College Rock Creek will play host on Monday to a community forum for north Washington County residents.

Participants include Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation District, St. Juan Diego Church, the Washington County Historical Museum and Citizen Participation Organization 7, which is the Washington County equivalent of the local neighborhood association.

The community open house is set for 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, June 14, in Building 9 of the Rock Creek Campus of Portland Community College, 17705 N.W. Springville Road. The event is free and open to the public.

Topics include:

– PCC Rock Creek Campus – summer and fall academic information and details of campus bond-funded improvement work, including second entrance and new building location ideas.

– The park district’s proposed dog-walk park and restroom facilities on their Rock Creek site, summer programs and activities. The dog park proposal includes a 2-acre, fenced-off section of the campus with gravel walking paths and a dog drinking fountain.

Washington County Museum’s programming and next exhibition, “Connections: Quilting 1930s and Today,” which opens June 17.

– The museum is housed on the campus.CPO 7 – how this volunteer organization works to field critical livability issues in the Rock Creek and Bethany Community.

– St. Juan Diego Church – progress on Phase I construction build-out plans for the new Springville Road neighborhood church.

“We’re honored to host this great opportunity for people to learn about what’s going on right in their backyards,” said David Rule, campus president. “Facilitating conversations with our neighbors, engaging people in developments on and around the campus is part of what PCC is all about.”
